Eau de Verveine

Penhaligon's · 2009

Fresh · Citrus · Floral

Penhaligon's Eau de Verveine is a fresh, citrusy and green fougère, discontinued, in which lemon and bergamot brightness meets the dry feel of lavender and cedarwood, made for both men and women. It opens on lemon, bergamot, lime and petitgrain, with mugwort and coriander adding a green, slightly herbal edge. In the heart, lavender and clove cool the citrus with a little spice, and in the base vanilla, musk and cedarwood sweeten it gently before it dries down on a woody footing. Longevity and sillage are moderate. Most voters pick spring and summer, and leisure, daily wear and the office are the occasions named most often. It leans a little more masculine than feminine, though plenty of voters call it feminine. Caron Le 3ᵉ Homme and Milano Cento Milano Cento have a close profile.

Eau de Cologne

7.7

Penhaligon's · 2010

Fresh · Citrus · Floral

Penhaligon's Eau de Cologne is a fresh unisex cologne that leans towards summer and spring and suits easy daytime wear. Most voters pick summer and spring, and it is worn for daily use, leisure and the office, with very little evening wear. Longevity and sillage are rated weak, so it stays light and close to the skin. More voters call it masculine than feminine, though a good share read it as feminine. It has been discontinued. The scent reads fresh and citrusy as a whole. Lemon, bergamot and orange give the brightness, neroli adds a soft floral touch, and rosemary brings a green, slightly spicy edge. A fruity note runs through it too. It stays clean and light on warm days.

Extract of Limes

7.3

Penhaligon's · 2009

Fresh · Citrus · Green

Most voters pick summer and spring, and daily wear, leisure and the office lead the occasions. Slightly more voters call it masculine than feminine, though the feminine share is far from small. Lime and citrus notes give it a bright, fruity start. Petitgrain and neroli add a green, faintly bitter depth to that brightness. A spicy edge shows among the accords, and the scent stays dry and clean rather than sweet.

Racquets

6.9

Penhaligon's · 2021

Fresh · Citrus · Synthetic

Penhaligon's Racquets is a unisex scent that pairs a fresh, citrusy lift with a leathery, woody character and a slightly synthetic sheen; it has been discontinued. Its longevity and projection are moderate, and it reads neither masculine nor feminine, so it suits anyone. These impressions rest on only a small number of votes, so treat them as a rough guide. Lemon gives it a bright, clean edge. Woodleather®, ambroxan and gaiac wood anchor it in a woody, leathery, lightly spicy base, with a faintly synthetic polish running through the whole.

Ninevah

7.1

Penhaligon's · 2015

Fresh · Fruity · Sweet

Penhaligon's Ninevah is a sweet, gourmand women's fragrance built around cinnamon, vanilla and cotton candy; it has been discontinued. Its longevity and sillage are rated good, though that view rests on only a few votes. Most voters pick winter and fall, with spring and summer further behind. It is classed as a women's fragrance. As a whole it reads sugary and fruity: candied apple and raspberry carry the sweetness, cinnamon adds spice, and benzoin, vanilla and musk soften it and keep it warm. The accords also show a fresh, synthetic edge. Grandeur Cotton Candy and Rabanne Pure XS have a close profile.
