Banana Oud

Maie Piou · 2023

Fruity · Sweet · Gourmand

Maie Piou Banana Oud is a unisex fragrance built on banana, rum and oud, where fruity sweetness sits over a spicy, woody base. Its longevity and sillage are rated good, though the number of votes is small, so that picture is tentative. Rich and gourmand, it suits cooler days and evenings best. It opens with banana, coriander seed and rum: sweet, fruity and slightly boozy. In the heart, ylang-ylang, davana and cinnamon add a creamy warmth. Birch, saffron and oud then pull it toward a woody, spicy and faintly animalic finish.

8.1

Maie Piou · 2023

Floral · Fruity · Sweet

Maie Piou Wood You is a unisex scent built on a woody, spicy frame, softened by floral and fruity touches and a creamy sweetness. Its longevity is rated good and its sillage is rated good as well, though both ratings rest on only a few votes. It sits comfortably between masculine and feminine, suiting men and women alike. The top opens with pink pepper, true lavender and cardamom. In the heart, ginger, white peach and lily of the valley appear, and the peach and floral note round the scent off. The base of vetiver, maté, cade juniper wood, patchouli and saffron gives it a woody, spicy finish.

Bouquet Royal

Avril · 2018

Citrus · Floral · Fruity

Avril Bouquet Royal is a women's fragrance that pairs bright citrus with a floral, fruity and powdery sweetness; it has been discontinued. Its longevity and sillage are moderate. Most voters pick spring and fall, with winter and summer a little behind. It leans towards leisure and office wear, and evenings suit it too. The heart holds lavender, violet, immortelle and raspberry, and the base of vanilla, white peach and patchouli leaves a sweet, resinous warmth.

Cœur de Bois

7.2

Avril · 2018

Fresh · Spicy · Woody

Avril Cœur de Bois is a fresh, spicy unisex scent that opens with frankincense, ginger and black pepper and rests on cedarwood and vetiver; it has been discontinued. Longevity and sillage are both moderate, so it suits those who want a woody scent that stays close to the skin without crowding the room. It reads comfortably on men and women alike. The opening is fresh and peppery, with frankincense and ginger alongside the black pepper. In the heart, cedarwood, Canary Islands juniper and clary sage build a dry, slightly smoky wood. Vetiver and patchouli add an earthy depth, while tonka bean and vanilla soften the base. Heeley Cardinal and Zara WO/02 Wood Street have a close profile.

Cherry Harley

7.7

Maie Piou · 2023

Floral · Fruity · Sweet

Maie Piou Cherry Harley is a unisex scent that sets the tartness of sour cherry against the warmth of tobacco, leather and saffron, with a sweet, spicy character. The top opens with sour cherry, finger lime, black pepper and mugwort, so fruity brightness comes together with spice. In the heart, jasmine, blond tobacco and rose add a soft floral layer. The base of leather, saffron, amber and musk carries it into a gourmand, woody, oriental warmth. Voters find its longevity and sillage good, though the number of votes is small, so those ratings are tentative. It does not lean toward either gender. Its profile is close to Xerjoff Deified Tony Iommi and Parfums de Marly Godolphin.

Bloody Neroli

8.0

Maie Piou · 2023

Fresh · Citrus · Floral

Maie Piou Bloody Neroli is a unisex scent with a fresh, citrusy and green character, its floral and spicy sides softening the brightness. The top holds Williams pear, bergamot, basil and rum, so fruity sparkle and citrus come first. Ylang-ylang brings a soft floral note to the heart, while camphor tree and clove add a cool, spicy edge. In the base, white musk, saffron and tonka bean sweeten it gently and settle it onto a soft finish. A cologne-like opening is shadowed by a spicy undertone. Verveine d'Eugène by Heeley and Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin (Cologne) have a close profile.

Leathery Flesh

7.3

Maie Piou · 2023

Floral · Synthetic · Spicy

Maie Piou Leathery Flesh is a unisex floral scent with a spicy edge and a bright, synthetic sheen. It opens with basil, angelica and petitgrain, then moves into a heart of ylang-ylang, jasmine sambac and tuberose. The flowers read full and rich, while the spicy accord adds a slight sharpness. The base of precious woods, saffron, ambrox and white musk smooths the woody warmth into a soft musk. The overall impression is floral and synthetic, warm and clean at once. Created by Jean-Charles Sommerard in 2023, its profile is close to Serviette Byronic Hero and Narciso Rodriguez Jasmine Musc (Eau de Parfum Intense).
