Velvet Splendour

6.7

Goldfield & Banks · 2019

Fresh · Floral · Green

Goldfield & Banks Velvet Splendour is a floral, powdery and creamy unisex scent built around jasmine sambac, Australian mimosa absolute and heliotropin. It wears with good longevity and moderate sillage. Most voters pick spring and fall, and it leans towards leisure, daily and office wear. More voters read it as feminine than anything else, though a fair share call it classic. The sweet floral side comes from jasmine, mimosa and orange blossom absolute, while heliotropin and tonka bean keep it powdery and creamy. Mandarin orange and hedione add a fresh, green lift. Patchouli, leather, Australian sandalwood and Haitian vetiver give it a woody backbone, and opoponax adds a spicy warmth.

My Cup of Tea - 5 o'clock

7.4

Brocard

Fresh · Citrus · Floral

Brocard My Cup of Tea - 5 o'clock is a unisex scent that opens with the fresh trio of lemon, black tea and bergamot and softens into vanilla and musk. The top notes of lemon, black tea and bergamot give a citrusy, green freshness. Freesia, lily of the valley and lavender bring a floral, powdery touch to the heart. Vanilla, musk and tonka bean sweeten the base, and that sweetness blends with a fruity, lightly spicy tone. Its longevity is rated good and its sillage moderate. Voters pick all four seasons in similar shares, and it leans towards leisure, daily wear and the office. Acqua di Parma Acqua Nobile Magnolia and Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Tiaré Mimosa have a close profile.

Jour 21

7.9

Majouri · 2023

Citrus · Floral · Fruity

Majouri Jour 21 is a unisex scent that opens citrusy and floral and settles into a sweet, gourmand, oriental base. The few voters so far rate both longevity and sillage as good, so these ratings should be read with caution. With no season or occasion votes, nothing firm can be said about when it suits best, though the sweet, oriental build points more to cooler days than to hot ones. Orange gives the opening its citrus note. In the heart, moss, saffron and jasmine meet, with the floral side balanced by a spicy, slightly leathery tone. In the base, vanilla, amber and woody notes carry the scent to a creamy, resinous, sweet finish. A synthetic sheen runs through it.
